Initially the object of the anger of
the peasants was the zamindars that were the targets of armed attacks. The low
level of consciousness amongst the peasants can be gauged from the fact that
they could not perceive the similar interest based coalition between the
British and the zamindars and attempts were made by them to take the help of
the British against zamindars. The first share of the pagalpanthi revolt lasted
till 1827. In this year tipu was imprisoned. In 1833, on the question of lagan
the pagalpanthi’s revolted again for some time, however no concrete result
emerged from this attempt.
